The Buzzing for Change Foundation
Who are we?
The Buzzing for Change Foundation is a non-profit corporation that was founded in 2006 to support Buzzing for Change programs at schools around the country. It does this by recruiting new programs, training student leaders to run them, providing start up funds and support systems and coordinating national initiatives.

What is a Buzzing for Change program?
A Buzzing for Change program has the following characteristics:
- It is a one day event with the focus being on participants shaving their heads and/or cutting their hair for Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children who lose their hair due to disease. Those who want to participate, but are not comfortable parting with their hair, are encouraged to volunteer, donate or find a way to participate at their comfort level. We shave our heads in solidarity with those who lose their hair due to chemotherapy.
- Participants are encouraged to recruit sponsorship for a local charity (selected by the local chapter) that works to improve the lives of children living with cancer.
- It is sponsored by a student organization or department on campus with university-only board members.

Where did we come from?
Buzzing for Change started as a student organization at The George Washington University in 2002 with the inaugural program taking place in 2003. Since then, the event has occurred on an annual basis, involving over 250 people each time (not including donors) and each event has raised at least $18,000 for children’s cancer charities in the Washington, DC area. Where are we going?
The Buzzing for Change Foundation is currently working closely with four schools to hold programs in the spring of 2008. These schools demonstrated strong student interest, partnering organizations, and the ability to financially support the program. The B4C Foundation provides technical support, templates for publicity and letters, use of the B4C website, use of the B4C database and a $1,000 start-up grant!
In early 2008, TB4CF will be looking for schools to hold programs in the spring of 2009. Applications will be available in early spring 2008, due back by May 15th and schools will be notified in August. We are also looking to grow our organization. Think we have a really cool idea you want to support?
Any donation, no matter how small can help us support children with cancer while inspiring others at the same time. All donations that individuals collect will go directly to that program's charity. In order to do this we look to have overhead costs for each program sponsored by certain companies and individuals. Donations to The Foundation allow us to provide logistical support to already existing programs and reach out to more schools.
